The following is based on actual events, occurring between 17th April and 9th May, 1995.

The Massacre at Kibeho, Rwanda, Where over 100,000 IDPs are near death, and over 10,000 are murdered in front of Australian soldiers working under the UN. The Soldiers are unable to do anything about it due to the Rules of Engagement.

This is truly a must-read book on a true event which should be remembered always, the only other events able to compare with the slaughter being the events that the Third Reich unleashed upon the world during the 2nd world war.

The Kibeho Massacre As It Happened eBook Nigel Clayton

The Kibeho Massacre: As It Happened is, to put it mildly, a very sobering read about a small contingent of Australian soldiers (under the UN banner) on the ground in Rwanda, during the violence between the Tutsi and Hutu tribes. The story is told in the present tense, and for the most part it is told well. In parts, the way it is written seems somewhat disjointed and awkward. However, that aside, it is a good picture of what happened in Kibeho during that terrible time. I can only imagine the frustration the Aussie soldiers would have felt as the UN had dictated that their rules of engagement were to defend UN soldiers only. So they were left to watch helplessly from the side lines as men, women and children were cut to pieces by machettes or gunned down in cold blood. Hopefully the UN learned a lesson from this bloody aweful event so that if anything ever happens like this again (god help us) soldiers will be able to react with swift, lethal force in order to protect innocent human life. Good book.

The Kibeho Massacre As It Happened eBook Nigel Clayton Reviews

I wish I had just stuck to the religious aspect of the Kibeho story. That was very interesting and I have shared it with many. This is so sad, I had a hard time reading it. But it is history and should be known.
